I rented a car from Enterprise after receiving an advertisement promising 50% off to customers renting within a specific timeframe. The advertisement included no specifics about location; however, when I arrived at the airport in Madison, WI, the attendant informed me that the advertisement did not apply to this location. I discussed unfair and deceptive Advertising practices with her and she agreed to give me the discount. After this, the representative repeatedly tried to sell me the $22/day insurance (over 5 days), which I declined, as I found this to be quite high for the type of driving around town I anticipated. Finally, I let her know that my outbound flight would be at 5am, so she advised me to drop the key in a box and that the car would be checked in when Enterprise opened that day.

I had no issues with the car and checked it myself before dropping off they key upon return. When I returned home, I got a voicemail that there had been damage to the car, and after discussing it with several representatives, I now owe $700 for damage that I did not cause.

I find it suspect that the company was so reluctant to give me a 50% off discount and that tried so hard to get me to accept the $22/day of insurance is now able to collect $700 from me for something I didn't do. All I can do at this point is refuse to pay and wait for them to sue me so that I can get them in court to protest their policy, but I don't want to sacrifice my credit for a $700 (plus costs) argument.

In short, I'm pissed.

my husband had a car accident 4/20 rented a car on 4/21, the next day we noticed a crack in the windshield...took it to them and said we would pay for it..Enterprise Manager in Wayne, NJ said they would put the rental through the other persons insurance as long as we had the claim number, we gave the claim number 3 times, some woman called me 2 wks after returning the car saying we owed $840 for the rental, i explained that the manager said they would put it through the other person's claim number since it was that person's fault..she got very snotty and said we never gave a claim number i told her she needs to speak to the manager, she calls back 20 minutes later and was very rude saying if we didn't pay that she would put us in collections..i told her i wouldn't talk to her rude self and she should have the manager call us...bottom line they said we had to pay it then wait to be reimbursed which we did, i told her at that time that when we get reimbursed we would pay the $185 for the crack in the windshield...i then received a bill on 7/7 and then a letter threatening collections on 7/10 i sent a letter with a $10 check stating i am out of work and i will make payments until we get reimbursed then i will pay the balance in full, i never received a response and have received a call from a collection agency last week, i have complained to the BBB who is investigating now..how does a company not cash the check i sent or respond in any way then put you in collection within a month and a 1/2 since the actual 1st notification of what you owe, especially when you try to make a payment of some sort, i have not even rec'd my check back.

I had similar probelm. The car had more than 6 serious damages in every corner. I was not botherd to check the car further.

when I returned the car, they notice a small scratch and they charged me £100 for it. Unfortunately, they alreayd had £200 deposit and they deducted £100 from it. my advice not to rent a car from enterprise again, and if you have to, take photos of the car before you leave. in top of all this, the car was not available when i first arrived, though I had a confirmation. Luckly they send me to another branch to take the car.
